Arbours
Arbours for the garden have become increasingly popular in recent years and every gardener should consider acquiring one of these wonderful structures.
The definition of the word ‘Arbour’ or ‘Arbor’ is a framework that supports climbing plants, thereby providing a shady resting place for owners. Arbours have developed from plain plant supports into garden features. In some cases Arbours can be described as mini gazebos since the roofed arbours are also garden shelters designed for sheltering from the sun. Although our summers are so unpredictable that sheltering from the rain should perhaps be included in the description!
Click4garden has some Italian inspired garden arbours with names such as Montebello, Toscana Corner Arbour, Livorno Arbour, Romana Arbour, Arezzo Arbour and Carrara Arbour. Your arbour is your garden view, your seat from which to enjoy the garden, your private place.
Choose an arbour from click4garden; locate it in your garden giving yourself a view, plant up the sides with roses or clematis, sit back and ….enjoy.
Gazebos
Did you know that the word Gazebo was first used in 1750 by British architects William & John Halfpenny? Although the origin of the word is unknown it is said to come from Latin “I shall gaze”. How appropriate – nowadays we use gazebos as garden retreats, individual ‘rooms’ from which to sit and view or ‘gaze’ at our gardens. Daytimes spent in your own shaded retreat; time to read, paint, work or just relax and enjoy your garden. Evenings spent in the comfort of your outside room; romantic meals, drinks with friends – all in elegant surroundings.
Gazebos take on many forms. They are freestanding structures with roofs and although originally open on all sides, rather like a bandstand, some can now be ‘dressed’ allowing you to create a look to suit your garden and your needs. The Click4garden Budleigh, Seaton and Regis wooden gazebos can be dressed by adding glass panels, balustrade panels, lattice panels and even wonderful mirror screens to reflect your garden.
Click4Garden Gazebos truly bring the inside outside allowing you to enjoy your garden all the year round.
Pergolas
Pergolas are larger structures than arches and usually consist of parallel colonnades supporting an open roof of girders and cross rafters. Traditional pergolas hark back to the grand masonry pergolas of the Italian Renaissance but they are now mostly constructed from timber. A pergola project is an exciting garden job to undertake – you can have corner pergolas, large pergolas, patio pergolas, lean-to pergolas, pergolas used as car ports; pretty much anything you want! Vines, ivy and climbing plants can be grown up and over the pergola affording shade in the summer and creating a room underneath. Put a table and chairs underneath and you have your very own outdoor dining area.
Pergolas come in all shapes and sizes and ready packed in kit form. If you wish to design your own pergola you can purchase all the necessary components, together with some advice, from the on line garden shop www.click4garden.co.uk.
Garden Fencing
It's an ill wind that may have blown your garden fencing down! Have the recent strong winds knocked your fencing for six? Did you know that now is the best time of year to sort out your fencing as your borders have not yet grown up and your fence line is clear. As well as providing security and privacy, choosing the right fence can be an investment in your property.
Perhaps this is the opportunity to be more inventive? Continental style screen panels have more creative styling, are of higher quality and longer lasting. They have mortice and tenon corner joints, a smooth planed finish and are pressure treated for longer life. They are also FSC certified – the trademark of the Forest Stewardship Council – thereby ensuring that the timber has come from environmentally approved forests.
If not a Continental panel, then how about Handcrafted Hazel Hurdles. These hurdles add an English cottage garden flavour to the garden. They are very versatile – in addition to fencing they can be used with great effect as screening for grass cuttings and other unsightly garden areas. These attractive panels are handcrafted from coppiced Hazel.
Don't forget our prices include VAT and delivery to mainland UK.
If you need help with your fencing project please don’t hesitate to call us. We have experts on hand who can advise on fencing and all the accessories you may need – posts, clips, spikes and so on.
